Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is committed to providing training and services to protect both the University community and our environment.

The mission of Environmental Health and Safety is to sustain and enhance a safe and healthy EKU community by mitigating the risk of injury through the availability of proper procedures and training and reducing our impact on the environment by maintaining strict regulatory compliance.

Occupational Safety
Occupational Safety: Responsible for identify-ing health and safety risks, establishing safety controls, and providing recommendations on avoiding accidents and health risks, for everyone in the University community.
Lab Safety: Responsible for fostering safety in the teaching labs throughout the University by providing proactive direction and facilitating compliance.
Environmental Compliance
Environmental Compliance: Responsible for University compliance with environmental statutes and regulations and reporting results to both the Commonwealth and the EPA.
Safety Data Sheets
Safety Data Sheets: Responsible for maintaining availability of current Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s) for all hazardous chemicals on campus. Database includes over 4,000 listings.
EHS Safety Training
EH&S Safety Training: EH&S is building a curriculum of safety training that includes self-study, on-line and classroom instruction and designating the training needed for various responsibilities.
Campus Utilities
Campus Utilities: As part of insuring environmental compliance, EH&S tracks all campus utilities and reports on energy consumption and emissions.
